O Simple Past (passado simples) é o tempo verbal usado para as ações que ocorreram e foram concluídas no passado, ou seja, que não têm continuidade no presente. Este é um tempo verbal marcado, principalmente, pela flexão do verbo principal mediante o uso do sufixo -ed. Veja os exemplos:​

“I listened to a pop song.​”

“Luciana played the guitar at the party.”​

“Eduardo composed the song.”

 

Entretanto, há algumas exceções, como quando se utilizam verbos irregulares. Nesses casos, há formas específicas para esses verbos ao serem usados no Simple Past em sua forma afirmativa. Veja, como exemplo, o verbo “be”:​

Music is an element that is part of our daily lives. Depending on our mood or the context we are in, we may enjoy different genres and musical styles.

Also, the music styles we like may change through time. In small groups, ask each other the questions and write the answers in your notebooks:
Who was the first singer or band that you remember listening to?
What music styles did you listen to when you were a kid? What do you listen to now?
